A day at the Iowa Beach.....

It was one of those perfect days..sunny...warm..not a cloud in the sky...light breeze...perfect day at the beach...only this is IOWA. Jeff's dad has been talking to us all summer about a bonfire on the sandbar down at the river...so this afternoon we packed up a picnic and headed down there!

I think this is it! Between Bryn and Grandpa, I think they caught 7 fish...with a STINKY aged cheddar cheese bait...nastiness...but it worked.

What an amazing afternoon and evening..sitting on the beach blanket..eating grilled hamburgers, watermelon out of Alex's garden and caramel brownies that Bryn made...We stayed til long after dark and then endured the dark creepy walk through the woods back to the truck!

Look what showed up in my pond this week??

Six adorable baby ducks!

 They are the cutest things..following mama duckall over the yard! She takes them for walks and teaches them to find food and then brings them back for a short swim in the pond...

 Jeff and I stood on the deck and watched them waddle across the lawn over to the pond...one by one they jumped in while she stood on the edge and watched...

After a little bit, she started to walk away...

one by one they swam to the edge and climbed out and followed her.

                                                      Headed back home!

Wedding Cakes

We had a busy weekend! Jeff made two different cakes for wedding receptions.

This one is probably my favorite cake he has made in a long time! He got to use his fountain! I helped some putting flowers on..and took pictures!

So...who is getting married next? :-)

Basketball with friends...

Ryan and Reed are spending a few days with Alex while their parents are enjoying a few days away..alone.
The boys have had a good time playing trampoline basketball...

They let me take some pictures of them slam dunking the ball...here is Alex jumping around Ryan to make the shot..

Ryan jumped high enough to look down in the hoop as the ball went through!

Fathers Day weekend

Jeff had the WHOLE ENTIRE day off Saturday...so we took advantage of the time and took him bowling and out to eat for Fathers day...

Sunday morning, Jeff and Alex sang a special in honor of Fathers day...

Sunday night after church, we took him to the town fountain for ice cream floats to end the day! The kids all chipped in and gave him a charcoal grill he has been wanting...

THIS was how the weekend started...Jeff worked Thursday evening and most of the day Friday making a wedding cake...it turned out beautifully!

All in all, it was an amazingly fun-filled relaxing incredible weekend!
